A contest prize version of the original Zelda, rumored to have differences, has FINALLY been located and dumped.

Spoilers: The game code is identical to retail, but because there's no magic library that has every game ever, a generous $1,000 purchase was required to find out.
That's not a complaint, that's just how it goes! If not for the generosity of people like @Peponski, rare games like this could have remained a mystery through the last surviving copy bit-rotting away. I'm thankful this one has been solved, even if the results aren't exciting.
[cue another five people being inspired to build the magic library of every game ever as if that's remotely achievable]
