...about 50% of that liberal vote. This was not the plan. The Dem leadership thought that Pocahontas, daddy Climatebucks, heelsup, Spartacus and buttman among others would split that 2/3rds of the vote. Leaving a Biden as the only front running moderate to capture that 1/3rd
...Biden being Biden couldn't do it. Much of that moderate vote ended up split between Creepy Joe and Salad lady in NH. Enter mini mighty Mike to come to save the day. Well, we saw what happened at the debate.
The timing is important here. Mini Mike needed a good debate performance to solidify that moderate vote before super Tuesday. He needed to be in a strong position to pick up the creepy Joe and salad lady voters when they drop out after SC. Mini Mike failed.
He is at best weakened. His money might make a difference but with the old Communist guy surging just when all the other liberals prepare to leave the race as they run out of cash, the Pocahontas, daddy Climatebucks and buttman voters will flow too Bernie.
This means that the old Communist guy will keep Increasing his share of the vote (barring any crazy Russian interference 🙄🙄) and at some point in the near future Bernie will be getting 50+% of the Dem vote.
When that happens even if Mini Mike is somehow able to regroup and get all the moderates he will be capped at around 40% of the Dem vote and there goes any hope of a contested convention. It's one thing to steal the nomination when it's a close popular vote count like 30/30/30
...but they can't do it without splitting the party if the old Communist guy is getting 50-60% of the vote and his main Challenger is only getting 30-40%
So the Dem leadership is looking at the base comprised of liberals/ socialists taking over the party from the moderate elites

I wouldn't even be surprised that when Biden drops out up to half of his support flows to Bernie instead of the rich white billionaire because mini Mike will be seen by many as THE MAN keeping them down. The SC primary is next week.
The timeframe is quickly evaporating for the party leaders to grasp control out of the chaos. Once the SC primary is over many of the people still in will drop out or stop their campaigns. Super Tuesday is the week after and that will basically be the final nail in the coffin for
...almost all campaigns except the old Communist guy and mini Mike (if he is still in it). Buttman is too inexperienced. Salad lady ended her campaign at the debate. What little momentum she had from NH went up in smoke in NV. Pocahontas is broke and unable to gain any support.
Daddy Climatebucks was never a threat. That leaves Bernie as the only liberal/strong liberal in the race. That leaves the old Communist guy with a potential to get up to 66% of the vote. That leaves mini Mike and/or Biden shit out of luck. That leaves the AOC squat team....
...the face of the party on down ticket races and the old Communist guy the face of the party on the top of the ticket. This is what they fear. Now, add in the fact that most of the press actually agrees with the Bernie polices like Medicare for all and the green new deal....
...and you have people that will not only not attack Bernie like they did Trump but will be promoting him in the fake media/bubble. You are then also looking at many Bernie voters coming out for primaries and the very big chance of "moderates" like Nadler losing their races...
...as moderates sit home when it becomes clear the old Communist guy is going to win that state primary. So not only will the Dems have a socialist at the top of the ticket but they will field many down ballot races too as they knock off the moderate Dems in the primaries.
At that stage, you have a clear ideological race between capitalism vs socialism and if socialism suffers a defeat, all those years of hiding who the Dems really are will go to waste. The curtain will be pulled back. This will also blunt the "character" issues of Trump for many.
This is what the Dem leadership fears. Their greatest strength for decades as been their ability to deny they were socialists. Of course, maybe the Bernie Bros are right and socialists will win the general election and the fears of the Dem leadership will be shown to be overblown
If a Bernie win happens against Trump look for every Dem politician to quickly pull off their masks and acknowledge to the world they are and have always been socialists. If they lose, the masks will stay on and they will denounce the Bernie gang.
