A PO who's just a backlog jockey is of no use to anybody. The team should know enough about the business and the domain to do that. So, what should you be doing if you're a PO? Here're a few ideas (far from an exhaustive list): 1/4
Listen to and observe the team so that you can know and respect the way they work. Build relationships and trust with both the team and your customers. Learn the domain. Watch customers/users work. 2/4
Be present (with the team) and quickly get them answers to questions that come up during dev. Make sure that the team understands that helping them and answering product-related questions is your highest priority. Don't hide from the team in meetings, for example. 3/4
Make sure the team knows how to get hold of you at all times. Eventually, know enough to identify impediments to value in the product and come up with experiments to help overcome these. Work with the team to implement those experiments. What else? 4/4
