The system hasn't worked for most Americans for 40 years. Trump said, "That means we have to blow up norms to make it work for you." Enough people bought that to get him elected. But he is blowing up the wrong norms and serving the one percent. So now, there's a new debate.
Progressives are saying, Trump got it wrong, has no credibility...but to fix a 40 year inequality problem, we still have to blow up some norms, the right ones this time. They will probably lose though. The rich and empowered are good at defending their interests.
So, in all likelihood, just as Trump left the parts of the system that help the super-empowered stay that way in place so too will the Democratic Party candidate. And the economic and political inequality will remain and grow.
And the risks they pose to the US will grow w/them.
