1. Prediction of #COVID2019 ( I have no idea whatsoever whether it is true, but there’s one point in it that I kind of agree. So I post it for you to make yr own judgment)
A. The epidemic will end around end of April, just like #SARS suddenly ended years ago.
2. However, the #virus will not go. It will stay, just like #SARS has stayed and mutated. When it hit again ( or for the 3rd time if we count from SARS), the situation will be much, much worse. People hit by it will die very quickly. No time to cure them at all...
3. The real danger is, after the epidemic is gone, #CCP will start a propaganda campaign to praise its “efforts” & “achievement”, and tighten the internet control. People may either be deceived, misled, or forget what they learn about #CCP very soon...
4. If that happens, next time when the #virus hits, there’s no more chance to save those people. So no matter what or how the situation changes, we should continue to expose #CCP’s evil and poisonous nature. Seeing through CCP & not to be hooked again is people’s only way out
5. I don’t know how true the predictions are, but agree with this point: we should never be deceived by the CCP again, or harbor any illusion towards it. CCP is like poison & can’t help being poisonous. If humans don’t get rid of it , it will get rid of of human beings.

A back-of-the-enveloppe thread on the spread of #COVIDー19:

1) HUBEI province (ca 60 million people) has had close to 3000 deaths. It still has an active caseload of ca 20 K patients & some 130 new cases a day, & ca 30 daily deaths. So I expect up to 3500 deaths, assuming...1/9
...a winding down of the epidemic there by end March. If,stress IF, the rest of the world became like Hubei (0.8%of world population), the death toll could be of ca 400 K with a cumulative number of cases of ca 8 million.This possibly sets the outer bounds of a Covid pandemic 2/n
Of course, active measures in the world may prevent Hubei-scale outbreaks so this is unlikely to happen (conversely, late but tough measures in Hubei have also limited Covid's spread in that province).

Some late night #COVIDー19 thoughts. But first, IANAP, so this is not medical advice.

Epidemiologic models suggest a doubling of cases every week or so in the US. That puts us at crazy numbers of patients by late May.

The impact on our economy will be stunning. /1
Most travel and hospitality business will see revenue plunge by at least 20%. That will be enough to put more than a few out of business, and 100s of thousands of workers in those industries will be laid off or have hours cut back. /2
I think a decent ballpark estimate of monthly unemployment by the end of the 2nd quarter (June 30) is 5-6%. It was 3.6% in January.

I think we'll be in recession by the end of the 2020. We may not know it by then, but final numbers (released in 2021) will likely confirm. /3

Coronavirus epidemy in Iran has past the crisis level. The country is imploding - law and order to disappear in the next days. A number of officials already died and mass infection among hospital staff and police forces reported.
#irancorona all of this, why?

The regime hid the initial cases since:
1) it was just before election and needed high turnout
2) due to political need, did not stop flights to china
3) source seems to becleric students from china arrived in Qom
4) did not close religious shrines
5) instead of providing information on the gravity of the risks to the public, played down and resorted to the same tactic of rhetoric “we will fight and beat it”

Now it has spread everywhere. The world now has an example on what failure to contain the virus can do.

My daughter (6) is drawing kids in cages on a posterboard for tonight's #NeverAgainIsNow march in Rhode Island, and I'm this weird mix of proud and horrified.

She told me a few months ago that she wanted to get better at drawing so she could make better protest posters.
What a country.
Here is her poster, made with minimal direction from me (she occasionally asked for spelling help). After she finished it, she briefly practiced raising it and marching around the house.
