Here is a #tweetorial with selected slides from the presentation
Although the main mode of transmission seems to be through droplets, #SARSCoV2 can be found in stool and in gastrointestinal glandular epithelial cells, raising the possibility of fecal-oral transmission 2/
Here are outcomes among inpatients with #COVID19 based on available data. Mortality rates are higher in older patients and in patients with comorbidities

Current management recs are available on @CDCgov and @WHO websites, and are mainly focused on supportive care. #Steroids should be avoided if sick with #COVID19 unless absolutely necessary. There is no available treatment for COVID19 but several agents are being tested

What does this all mean for our patients with #IBD? No data yet available on patients with IBD and #COVID19 and very little data on immunosuppressed patients. But here are some possible implications for patients with #IBD

To wrap up, here are some recommendations and take-home points re: #IBD and #COVID19 #IBDlive @MRegueiroMD
🔹Thus far there are no reports of COVID-19 infected IBD patients. We are in a rapidly changing time – each day, each hour we learn something new 6/
🔹We do not recommend stopping IBD meds as a preventive step, especially due to the concern of IBD exacerbation and potential need for rescue corticosteroids
🔹If a patient on immunosuppression contracts COVID19, each case should be individualized to their treatment plan 7/
🔹Corticosteroids likely worsen the course of COVID-19 and should be avoided (TNF may have a role in the pathogenesis or pathogenic response of Coronavirus – could anti-TNF be beneficial?? This is not known) 8/
🔹We should advise our patients, as with anyone, for proper hand washing, preventive measures, and avoiding large crowds (and all non-essential travel) if possible 9/
🔹Report any IBD cases of confirmed #Coronavirus on the COVID19 IBD registry site:  covidibd.web.unc.edu
🔹Stay calm, your patients, colleagues, and others look to you for advice and leadership! 10//
