This isn't hysteria, this isn't overreaction, this isn't politicizing the virus. We're not rooting for Trump to fail. We're cursing the fact that he chose to fail.
I don't know how much wiggle room we have to turn this around, but if the shock of these numbers spurred the Trump administration into action and we get testing up to speed and get social distancing and we avoid that fate I wouldn't care that I'd look "silly".
No one *wants* Trump to fail this. He's doing it on his own, against the crucial advice of the people he thinks are trying to sabotage him.
Trump politicized this. He politicized it by making the choice, every day, to keep the count of known cases as low as he could, not by preventing the spread but by refusing to test, refusing to count.
He chose useless measures like travel bans that made the little lizard brain of his xenophobic base happy but did nothing to stop the virus from reaching our shores and even less to keep it from spreading.
If a third of the country gets sick with an illness that has a 1% fatality rate -- and those are some of the more conservative numbers -- that's a million dead.
Add in the people who could barely afford their insulin or other life-saving medicine before their employer closes or they get sent into weeks of isolation with no pay.

Add in the people who can't afford to stockpile food.
Figure the fatality rate will go up if we can't flatten the curve and the hospitals are overwhelmed. No hospital beds, no ventilators, no doctors.
In parts of Italy, they are performing battlefield triage in civilian hospitals. Two patients dying - which do I save? Who *can* I save?
Imagine a message from our great president telling the seniors, the elders, our grandparents, that hospital beds are for the young and vibrant. They've had a good run, haven't they? Time to make room for someone who has a chance.

The GOP lied and said ObamaCare would bring that.
That is what's coming to the US if things go the way of Italy here.

There's a glimmer of hope as governors and businesses with a sense of self-preservation do what Donald Trump does not have the strength to do, and that's tackle this head on.
