THREAD (1/9) detailing further analyses of publicly available #COVID19 data from #Singapore. Please interpret cautiously as the data are limited & there is no adjustment for confounding, etc.

First, an epidemic curve. Still no peak in cases yet, despite meticulous case finding.
(2/9) Next, sex distribution of cases. Males are still primarily affected. It looks like men are at greater risk of both infection & experiencing worse disease. No adjustment for factors such as smoking though. Male cases are younger than females (mean 43 vs. 50 years; p=0.006).
(3/9) The age of cases has an approximately normal distribution. The mean age of cases is 46 years (standard deviation 15 years).
(4/9) 187 cases have been reported to date, all of which I believe have been hospitalised (note this does not indicate the severity of infection). For 166 of these, I could determine the admission date. The median time between onset of symptoms and hospitalisation was 4 days.
(5/9) 96 cases (51%) have been discharged from hospital, of which I could determine the admission date for 89. For these, the median duration of hospitalisation was 13 days (range 3-29 days).
(6/9) Of 96 recovered cases, 58 are male and 38 are female (note that more males were infected). Of 107 total male cases, 58 have recovered (54%), and of 80 total female cases 38 have recovered (48%); p=0.364. Recovered cases are younger (mean 42 vs. 51 years; p<0.001).
(7/9) The data were sourced from the Ministry of Health, Singapore, and analysed by me with Stata. Once again, I caution that these results should be interpreted carefully. These are small numbers, there’s no adjustment, and I might possibly have made mistakes in the analysis.
(8/9) Final disclaimer: These analyses are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, and should not be used to guide health care decision making or policy. The MIT License applies.
(9/9) I would like to thank Singapore's Ministry of Health (@sporeMOH) for making such detailed data on their #COVID19 cases publicly available. This is incredibly useful for researchers & also very reassuring with regard to the management of a serious global public health issue.
