No restaurants
No playdates
No parties
No travel

(2) Yesterday my timeline was filled with alarming scenes of crowded airports and anecdotal accounts of people packed into bars for St. Patrick's Day.

We know for every person infected with the virus, 2.5 more people become infected with COVID-19.

(3) We know that thousands if not millions of folks walking around in public right now are asymptomatic silent killers. They carry the virus & contribute to its spread.

For millions of elderly & immune-compromised, this carelessness is a death sentence.

(4) As a community, we can act even if our government fails to. WE have the power to stop the virus spread right now.

But it requires sacrifice, not selfishness.
Compassion instead of callousness.

Many Americans sadly don't seem up to the task.

(5) And unlike past historical widespread quarantines, we have a lot of tools at our disposal to ensure we can stay home comfortably for two weeks.

The internet places a world of entertainment, education, connection, and resources at our fingertips.

(6) Since staying home isn't a hardship, why are Americans reluctant to make the sacrifice? Why isn't our country in full lockdown to save lives before it's too late?

Because Trump & his propaganda channel are giving many people a false sense of security.
(7) Because the truth is you won't know you're sick until you start coughing in 2 weeks. You won't know you've contaminated your grandmother. Your parents.

Because we refuse to heed warnings, Americans won't see the disaster until it's too late to avoid.

(8) Should we already be in lockdown? Of course. But we don't have to wait for the government to save lives. Start staying at home immediately.

Pressure employers to allow remote work. Pull your kids out of school. Plan to hunker down until at least June.

(9) I know that sounds like a long, long time. But it can translate into millions of lives saved & a public health disaster averted. It gives our system time to respond.

It gives those infected with COVID-19 the care they need to recover before an onslaught of new cases begin.
(10) I beg you on behalf of the 60% of US adults with an underlying medical condition, STAY HOME. Don't go to the gym, the playground, or the bar. #FlattenTheCurve

The life you save might not be your own, but that doesn't make it any less valuable.

Tomorrow morning many of you are going to enter the remote workforce for the first time or as I like to call it "trying to get shit done with kids in my face."

I've been living here for quite some time so let me give you the lay of the land and some solid tips.

(2) First, what qualifies me? Well, I've run my own business from home for 3 years. I juggle school-aged kids every summer for three months. but I've also homeschooled them both at one point.

I'm also a former kindergarten teacher & child behavioral therapist.
(3) My first piece of advice is PLANNING. Get one of these simple printable curriculum calendars and PLAN what the kids are going to do while you work for the next two weeks.

If they've got stuff online to do from school, great. But for the littles it'll probably be up to you.

Even though community spread has been established in Utah, doctors are still being told they can not test people who haven’t had direct contact with coronavirus positive patients.

This is insane.
The CDC is enabling this pandemic.

The latest cases suggest widespread infection within the community. Restaurant staff. School kids.

Social distancing is for everyone. Yes you, too!

This only works if we all take it seriously and commit to as little interaction as possible over the next 2-3 weeks. That means not eating out, avoiding shopping except when essential, no gyms, no play dates for the kids.

(2) Yes it sucks. No you’re not supposed to enjoy it. But we need to stop the virus spread NOW.

I see you letting your littles play on the neighborhood playground. The virus can live on some surfaces for days. And it’s not just about your risk.

It’s about infection spread.
(3) Sure you’re probably safe. Maybe you’ll get it and feel lousy for a few days. But the kid you let come over and play is gonna take it home and maybe give it to a grandparent. They won’t be okay.

When you practice social distancing, you’re not protecting yourself.

Specifically, I want to talk about the radical love that we as a community of scholars, peers, and friends that we will need in order to protect the collective good.
There is a huge temptation right now to point fingers, to hoard items, to clear grocery shelves; met equally by those encased in their bubbles of independence still going about as if a pandemic has not been declared.

Here's a thread about what it's like to #travel by air in India these days. First, you open up your preferred ticketing website, check for a decent fare and select it, only to find that there's a non-refundable 'convenience' fee to also be paid.
So you open up the airlines' own websites and compare the fares, and see that the sneaky gits also charge a similar fee, for reasons unknown. Thus you go with whichever website offers the lower overall fare. Tickets bought, you decide to check in online at the appropriate time.
Here, you discover that you have to pay extortionate prices to select a seat (even a middle one, sometimes), so you say "Fuck it, I'll check in at the airport." Then you book an Uber at surge pricing rates, and the guy cancels on you (but you get hit with a cancellation fee).
