Depressing that this needs saying. The Conservative party is not composed of genocidal murderers. They are not trying to cull the population. I'm seeing way too much of this on my timeline.
The strategy that seemed to be followed, and now probably won't be, was to try to create immunity in the population while protecting vulnerable. It wasn't to actively kill people. You're not living in an episode of He-Man.
If the Tories were genocidal murderers, then the very last group they would target are older people, because that is their actual voter base.
Please stop it with this. It frightens people. It eradicates any trust whatsoever in messaging at a really quite alarming moment. And that can make things infinitely worse.
The questions to ask are: Does Johnson have the seriousness, competence and presentational ability to handle an event of this magnitude?
What research is the govt basing its policy on? Can an administration which broke bonds of trust in institutions repair them for dealing with coronavirus? Can a govt based on political tribalism put out a message that encourages national solidarity?
Do they have the bravery, diligence and foresight to protect millions of workers from what this event will do their livelihoods?
These are sensible questions to ask. And at the moment, the answers are not reassuring.
