Individually than #CoronaVirus in India since the curfew & measures taken. Everything looks like overkill now. I said this before, I repeat again; we will be laughing at it sooner.

Media gone bonkers

I have been a student of epidemiology till date from the first day of my practice.

If any disease is virulent + shorter latency as Covid19 then it will be mitigated earlier than later.

It is those like HIV, TB, Malaria which can remain dormant & resurface later, that do damage

Virulent + ↓latency viruses/bacteria catch the eye of public policy makers & funds move in fast to scientists, labs to create drugs/treatment regimens.

We already have a treatment for Covid19 so all the media hype must stop. Govt must not be put in undue pressure by them

Govt of India & the states have done a far superior job compared to the rest of the world including countries with percapita health expenditure of nearly 10,000 $ per year.

We have least community spread & better cure rates than developed world. Our public policy exemplary

In epidemics/pandemics 2 strategies are key

1) Mitigation: identify infected & stop them from spreading in community
2) Suppression: Identify contacts & quarantine for safe community

Both these are being done superbly. I bow to officers like @mani1972ias who are doing great job

To those medical teams on front lines involved in direct care. Please keep an eye out for all reports & treatment regimens coming out of labs/hospitals across the world.

Biggest advantage we have in India vis a vis China, is we are a democracy & open society. Open source helps!

Add Azithromycin to your treatment regimens along with earlier drugs. It worked for Nipah, it is proving to be effective against the Chinese Corona virus too as per early reports.
