One of the several recently started clinical trials for a Coronavirus treatment.

PUL-042 was initially developed to help immunoimpaired patients, including those with cancer from respiratory infections. It does this stimulating a cellular response that works against a broad range of pathogens. If it works vs covid-19 they'll have something to slow it down.
As you can well imagine this is only part of the process. It must be tested further and even if it meets with success they have to set up a production line. Overall there are a lot of similar, parallel efforts not just in the US but in Europe, the UK, Canada, Oz, Japan and China.
This is because nobody knows, in advance, which effort will succeed. An example from WW2 was the B-29. Since no one was sure it would work there was also a Lockheed B-30, Douglas B-31 and the Consolidated B-32 development efforts as insurance.
In the movies we are just shown the B-29, like "of course". But in reality there are many failures for each success.

It's important to realize the 21st century was nearly brought to its knees by something not even alive. It's a pure instruction set. It can only replicate by manipulating the host to photocopy it; reprograms what it invades.
It seems alien because the 20th century mind saw information as the epiphenomena or 'dream' of the material mind. Yet that 'dream' possessed a reality they little guessed.
HG Wells saw the alien as bug eyed monsters from Mars arriving in steel cyclinders shot across physical space by gunpowder. But maybe the really dangerous aliens are thoughts we have not yet thought or information nature has not yet crafted waiting quietly just round the bend.

Fortunately the true parameters of the Covid-19 outbreak will be accurately known as a result of a growing baseline of actual test, diagnosis and treatment. There is less dependence on China data and predictive models.
My own guess is that some worst case scenarios will be revised downwards in the coming days, and although these may be disputed, the availability of sufficient reliable data will be definitive.
What will remain is a very serious pandemic, but in true proportion. It's bad but it may not be the apocalypse some feared. How bad? Well the data will tell us.

This will put the concept of lockdown to the test. If all that's required is one positive sailor, not necessarily seriously sick to disable a battle group, there will be no Navy.
Some way must be found to allow activity to go forward while taking steps to slow the virus. Absolutes are impossible.
There's another virus different from Corona but nonetheless real which we are more familiar with. It's the kind that multiplies by endlessly spinning up processes until all the CPU cycles are consumed till the entire system however big brings itself down.

My daughter and I had the CoronaVirus in 1999. We were both diagnosed with it. Both extremely high risk. It was like a head cold. We both lost some weight, but treated it with asthma inhalers, Theraflu Cold, Emergen-C, rest and fluids. My daughter had Cystic Fibrosis. Lived.

A group of Indian scientists have discovered that Wuhan #Coronavirus has been engineered with AIDS like insertions. The study concludes that it is unlikely for a virus to have acquired such unique insertions naturally in a short duration of time.
