Argument for arguing out of emotion. This is just something that came to my mind after discussing the corona situation with @ramzpaul who considers strong restrictions a result of emotional thinking. Might be, but is that necessarily a bad thing?
->
Any argument based on the idea that human life has self value is an emotional argument since that value exists only in people's minds as is dependent on the value system of said people. So saying "we shouldn't euthanize handicapped people" is an argument out of emotion.
->
Such people often don't have value that you could count in tax revenue or any other number below the line. But we still believe their lives to have self value, even if they're not profitable members in the society. And few people would disagree with that emotional argument.
->
"European people and cultures should have a future" is also an argument out of emotion.

So is: "All nations should have a right to exist and rule themselves."

Nation is more than numbers. In essence it's emotional. It's a bond based on biology but dependent on emotion.
->
I understand that argument from emotion has a bad ring, because often they are used by our enemies to deceive us into doing something harmful for ourselves. Like opening the borders. But emotional thinking can work for our advantage, and often it's more powerful than reason.
->
People are human, after all. If they were just rational beings, everyone would oppose mass migration just because of the statistics. To leave emotional arguments to our enemies because they're somehow less intellectual is foolishness. It's giving up a very useful tool.
There's no person on this planet who believes in no emotional arguments. Instead of seeing that as the weakness of peoples rational thinking, how about looking at it as the strength and potential of emotion and making use of it?
