The U.S. is up to around 34,500 coronavirus tests/day.

This is maybe around 30% of where we need to be.

At recent rates of increase, I guesstimate that we will reach 120k tests/day in somewhere between 4 and 16 days (depending on if we increase linearly or exponentially). That time difference makes a big difference. Only once we get sufficient capacity can we do Test-and-Trace.
Remember, without Test-and-Trace, all that testing does is confirm that people with coronavirus symptoms have coronavirus!

Test-and-Trace is about testing people BEFORE they have symptoms, based on CONTACT with people who have the disease, so they can isolate themselves!

PS/ Eight weeks from now (apparently) America will be prepared to fully test people for Coronavirus, so between now and then (and after) the mortality rate reported is likely to fall. But you don't *guess* at data during a pandemic. The tweet above reflects the data we have now.
PS2/ This thread doesn't draw any *final* conclusions on mortality rate. It reflects the information we have right now. And it's in the midst of this current information landscape that the president is falsely implying the Coronavirus is much *less* serious than the seasonal flu.
