There is a psychological principle called “the persistence of discredited beliefs”.

Basically, once a person has been made to believe something, they cannot be made to *fully* disbelieve it - even when shown irrefutable evidence.

Belief perseverance is a form of confirmation bias.

It’s a phenomenon that Fox News uses regularly for effect. They make salacious statements and then walk them back a little knowing the damage is done. (eg the Seth Rich conspiracy theory)

Swift has to be singing “Look What You Made Me Do” today.

Kanye and Kim Kartrashian absolutely dragged Swift alleging she lied.

Kanye actually led audiences to chant “Fuck Taylor Swift”

Turns out Kanye and Kim are the liars. Color me unshocked. Kanye is a hot mess.
For the record, I love a lot of Kanye’s music. The dude is a first-class asshole though.

So, my mom hits me up with a problem: she needs to get into a locked filing cabinet which she no longer has the key for...

She has been searching for important docs for days, so I say “No problem, mom. I will McGyver the shit out of that lock.”

So, I take to the interweb and commence an immersion on lock engineering. Tumblers. Spring-loading. All very complex.

What we had was your classic four-pin, you see.

I deduced that.

Like a freaking expert.

Then I moved on to a quick tutorial on larceny.

I’d need a real thieves toolkit.

Lockpicks. Other sharp and pointy things. Probably a welding torch. One of those masks.

I had none of those, so, two paperclips, it was.

In my defense, they were quite good paperclips.

Just to be clear, this isn't a late 60s 426 Mopar elephant motor, or a dragworthy 50s Chrysler 392 Firepower Hemi, it's a 1953 Dodge Red Ram 241 cubic inch "baby hemi." Cute little pitbull of a powerplant.
Fun fact: during the 50s Chrysler Corp made Chysler FirePower Hemis, DeSoto FireDome Hemis, and Dodge Red Ram Hemis, and they are all completely different blocks with few if any interchangeable parts.

So my cowoker passed away a couple days ago and that shit really has me REELING. I’m going to tell a brief story about how cheating can LITERALLY cost you your life.

*Names have been changed to protect the identities and this is all “alleged”*
So about a month ago this guy we’ll call “Freddie” joined my IT team at work. Unlike a few of our team members, Freddie showed great promise and clear foundationial knowledge of IT. I (along with my supervisor) was very impressed with his skill set.
Now Freedie shared with some of the team that he had a girlfriend and they had been together for some time. Their relationship had its bumps but overall was pretty good.

Now some planning priorities. Essentially, council said the top priority was the opportunity zone use table changes, THEN large homes/large lots.
But now council members think community benefit (and the height moratorium) deserves more attention.
Planning dept is overwhelmed, so they need some prioritization. Workload is No. 1 concern.
