There are on average 100 trillion microbes in and on the human body. They all have a purpose to help maintain the health and proper operation of the organismic economy. Harmful pathogens do not exist in the strict sense of the term.
Microbes are scavengers and essential protagonists of the disease process, which aims to cleanse/detox unhealthy/dead tissue in order to re-establish homeostasis and health. Microbes are not the cause, but rather coexisting artifacts of the disease process.
