Eerie similarities. Someone has done their homework well. Comparing COSTCO 2003 Annual Report Notes with 2017 DMART Annual Report
Was reading on Costco's business model. Have prepared firsthand notes from the annual reports since 1998. All years are not the same but in between the years they have explained interesting facts about the business. Read on the link below:

The company has explained its business model in a very simple manner in 2005. Attaching notes of the same for reference. Trying to find similarities between Indian retailers and foreign successful retailers
This so much different than the other businesses that are out there where the mantra is:
- Growth at all costs
- Growth 2.0
- Borrowing growth from future years by discounting today

Interestingly when current world turmoil ends some businesses will be much stronger than before

This one is interesting. While Neville Noronha admits that there is enough scope for multiple companies to grow in retail, Kishore Biyani of FRL wants to be the only company in organised retail in India.

Costco is a fascinating business.

You know all those groceries you buy?

Yeah, they basically sell those at breakeven and then make all of their profit from the $60 annual membership fees.

2/ In turn, this gives it pricing authority. In other words, you don't even look at the price because you know it's going to be the best.

Here’s a little lesson in business registration for my US and Jamaican followers:

Most US companies are gusteres in Delaware because it has the most favourable laws for businesses AND “has a separate Court of Chancery to hear cases involving corporate law”

No corp taxes either

Jamaica is nothing like the USA.

I can register in a different state and do business across each state with certain registrations and/or licenses. The USA is a union of individual states.
Most entrepreneurs setup an S Corp or an LLC in their home state, mine is Florida (no personal income taxes so a pass-through entity is preferred and we have Homestead Exemption too).

But that is just at the startup phase to keep over head low.

Boom. Huge. Report states based on evidence from ICO investigation that Facebook had at least 3 senior managers aware of Cambridge Analytica "breach" prior to Dec 2015. This matters because Guardian reporter said he first called FB on Dec 9 ahead of reporting it Dec 11, 2015. /3
