"the pension (ATRF) was originally created under Government of Alberta legislation in the legislature."

This non sequitur ignores the fact that all AB laws come from the legislature. Also, fails to mention that ATRF was jointly sponsored by the GOA and ATA. #ABLeg #fail

He also said:
"It (the ATRF) exists under the ongoing authority of the government."

So again, even though the GOA makes less than half the contributions and has been joint with the ATA for 80 years it only exists under the GOA? Really? #poorviewofhistory #ABleg

And he was not done yet...

"The Legislature is the only body with legal authority to change or update that pension legislation."

True.

And in any functioning democracy stakeholders are consulted before action is taken. No one ran on this. #ABLeg

And still more...

"It (ATRF) comes with the benefit of a virtual guarantee by the government"

Wrong answer Ron.
LAPP and other plans where the GOA is the sole trustee have a virtual guarantee. With ATRF if the plan was short they would split the shortfall with the GOA. #ABLeg

Ron, the real question here is do you support democracy? Or some Stalinist dictatorship...

Ron also needs to know that the $41 million in projected savings is fake. Team tripod (Travis, Kevin and Athana) need to complete a real business case to support a decision like this.

Someone needs to let all the MLAs know that pensions are the deferred wages of workers. Put away and invested for a time when they can no longer work. That essential fact seems forgotten by a GOA who liken them to some kind of largesse. #ABLeg #handsoffmypension

If someone from team tripod would only be honest with me as to what the motive is....then I wouldn't have to speculate.
