Perhaps the biggest drain on Indian productivity is our hot weather

Much of India endures incredible heat during work hours. AC is a privilege enjoyed by very few yuppies

Is there a case for govt subsidizing air-conditioning across India in work places / schools?
To me this point is under-discussed.

It is only after living abroad for a while, that one realizes how difficult it is to endure a day in most parts of India for 8 out of 12 months in the absence of AC
We subsidize all kinds of private goods, which shouldn;t be subsidized

Yet no one ever thinks of this.

There is a reason why tropical countries tend to be poor. (excepting city states like Singapore where AC is universal)
