Yesterday I was reporting on the problems Universal Credit applicants have been experiencing trying to register onto the system. Today we’ve heard the reason why: 477,000 new claims have been made in last nine days alone. The system is struggling to cope.
Permanent Secretary of @DWP says 105,000 of those claims were made only yesterday.

NEW: Leo Varadkar is strengthening the anti #Covid19 measures Ireland

Hes just announced:

-a lockdown until April 12th. Everyone to remain at home aside from essentials, shopping, exercise etc

- all gatherings in public to be prohibited
Varadkar has also said that no one should go further than 2km from their homes.
In some respects this is now more draconian than what has been introduced in the UK

NEW: Matt Hancock, the Health Secretary has also tested positive for #covid19.

That’s the two most important political figures in deal with the government’s response, having the disease.
Clearly #covid19 is pretty widespread across Whitehall and at the heart of British govt.

Question is will the rest of the Cabinet be tested? Have they been already? And others in D St? Specifically, which hospitals as the Health Sec been at over last couple of days (if any)?
And specially, if the PM and Health Sec have it, given how much time they’ve been spending with Whitty and Vallance, do they have it too?

Yesterday, I brought the inherent security problems which arise due to smartphones displaying password characters as they are typed. Today, I'd like to open your eyes in a new way (pun intended).
From a security and surveillance perspective, facing smartphone cameras are one of the worst ideas humanity ever spawned. Do you realize how many apps gain access to your front facing camera? Do you realize what that access enables?
The ability to access a smartphone's front facing camera is *almost* as good as placing a camera inside someone's eyeballs. It's all about reflection, and the resolution/quality of front-facing cameras is only getting better. Consider the following images:

#New PA cong. map increases D chance of winning the House majority by 4%. They only need a 6.8% generic ballot margin now (down from 7.7) to be favored.

Diff. will be closer to 10% in Nov when uncertainty from polls is ⬇️. Redraw is a very big deal.

One major reason the new PA map is such a big gain for Democrats is that it solidifies, not just tips, PA districts in Philly burbs. Also creates one additional vulnerable R district. (Easily seen in this map made by @JMilesColeman)
My forecasting model will have new PA map in the near future. This is not just a simple switch; it’s a coding redesign, restructuring of input, & drawing new geographic files. Takes a while (for me, a student).
