We face this great crisis, one that requires immediate monetary relief for human beings, and it's packed full of relief for wealthy corporations and billionaire slush funds, and Republican Senators were still balking because they fear it might be too generous for working people
Bernie Sanders countered by threatening to hold the bill until the $500 billion corporate bailout contained therein was given a provision that stated they couldn't lay off workers if they took the money.

Which means the bill didn't have that already.
The idea that corporations weren't going to get 500b in unattached funds along with the saving from the workers they intend to lay off made the Dow, excited all day, drop 600 points in minutes.

So that's the stock market for you.
The people who intend to consume us for profit have never been more brazen, and the fact that's what they intend has never been more obvious.

Greed is the enemy. Fight it.
When the chips are down, you find out what people are like when the chips are down. And then you know.

Republicans are fighting VERY hard to make sure the relief that comes to you is less than it would be.

So now you know.

Don't forget it.
The reason they fight to make it less generous isn't because making it more generous would be an inappropriate response, but because an appropriately generous response would upend an greedy status quo that consumes people for money.

They represent greed, not you.

Now you know.
This deadly pandemic is for them, first and foremost, what every event is for them: An opportunity to stage a money grab on behalf of those who already have more than they need.

Saving lives is more of a nuisance.

Their behavior is entirely consistent with this assessment.
The effect of the pandemic could have been greatly curtailed by spending on prevention before it even existed, then on testing at the onset, and on respirators now.

They did none of that. There wasn't any profit in it—and they represent greed, not us.

And now we know.
The cost of the prevention would have been an insignificant fraction of $2 trillion, the amount they now release.

It's an amount they could have always released, for any reason.

They release it now because they see profit in it. They oppose it where it threatens those profits.
Here it is, the grim conclusion: the answer to the virus is to remain indoors until its gone

The only reason we won't is: our society has been designed to punish us if we do that

They could change that, but there's no profit in it

The greed, not the virus, is the real threat
Here it is, the grim conclusion: for those who represent the greed, the virus is just another profit opportunity.

Without the greed, we'd beat the virus.

The greed, and it's vile servants—that's what's killing us.

The virus is just the thing that's killing us TODAY.
If we don't fight the greed and its representatives with everything we have, during the threat of the virus and after, then the next crisis will just be another opportunity for the greed to profit off as many of our bodies as it needs to consume to get the profit.

Now we know.
There can't be any going back to how it was after this.

If you want to return to the status quo, you just want to return to a time when the greed wasn't eating YOU personally. It will go on eating the people it was before.

That's an alignment with the greed.

And now you know.
There are people who have known this a long time—their whole lives. They're the ones the greed usually consumes while we kept comfortable.

But now you know. You can't NOT know, unless you deliberately decide to not know.

You've got to pick a side.
You've got to decide if you're going to seek the status quo again, or if you're going to throw your moral and physical weight into a change of a system run by and for greed.

Alignment with or against the greed.

You've got to pick a side.
We must decide if we're going to accept the platitudes of those who frame obvious and needed changes around talk of cost and incremental pragmatism, or if you're going to reject these empty delays and demand the change.

Alignment with or against the greed.

Now you know.
The greed, not the virus, is the threat. It was the threat before the virus and it will be the threat after.

We have to change it all.

We can change anything we want. It's merely a case of priority, not capability. The greed is about to release $2T on a dime.

Now you know.
