County Executive @SNeuhausOC of @OCGovNY thinks that Kiryas Joel was an early Covid19 problem but he ignores the fact that residents followed early advice from officials to test. Due to the early testing, KJ cases appeared early. Not testing, does not mean there are no cases.
In his #COVIDー19 update on Sunday March 22, @SNeuhausOC spoke about KJ almost at the top of his message. KJ has 25,000 people in a county of 375,000 people. It is antagonistic to pick on a small village (based on flawed math no less). This is the relavant portion.
Basically, @SNeuhausOC suggests that KJ has an infection rate of 60% based on a doctor who said that 60% of his tests are positive. Days earlier, Neuhaus suggested that KJ’s rate is 90%. It is not prudent to set county policy based on claims that fluctuate so wide within days.

How bad will this get – it depends. If we act now ( #socialdistancing), limited interaction we can slow the spread. With vaccines being trialed, theres hope we can quell this, but realistically only toward end of the year (trials, testing, distribution, administration) /3

A #COVIDー19 testing story.: a close friend who has been in Asia with a layover in Seoul came home and self-quarantined last Saturday. As of Tuesday she has respiratory symptoms, achy, chills but no fever. Called the #DC DOH who told her to stay home. Call if it gets worse. 1/
2. She stays home. Binges Netflix etc. Wednesday she feels worse. Crap. Tightness in her chest. “I have asthma and I need to see a doctor” she says. “I was in Thailand + on a plane full of people who embarked in Seoul. “Stay home” says DOH #COVIDー19 2/
3. Feels awful. She’s asthmatic.Uses inhaler which doesn’t help. Chills. Wakes up in the middle of the night w/stomach cramping. Calls DOH-We won’t test you, but go to urgent care-just wear a mask,wash hands. She calls 3 urgent cares, All say please don’t come here. #COVID 3/
