It looks like the US response is starting to be coordinated at the state rather than national level.

Every governor could ask for a tech CTO, biotech CSO, and chief medical officer to help them coordinate software, tests/drugs/vaccines, and medical treatment respectively.
How to recruit those people from the tech/biotech sector? Many are in existing positions of responsibility that they’d find hard to abandon, especially in crisis times.

But a mechanism for doing this would start to get tech talent into decision making.
If the government is now buying equity in companies, it could just acquire relevant tech / biotech companies for fair market value. That ensures employees & customers aren’t left adrift.

Then immediately put those folks in charge of areas of expertise.
