2) More horrors from Brookings' eyes: "[Multilateral] initiatives may be eclipsed by the Trump administration’s focus on holding the Chinese leadership accountable for its initial response to the virus outbreak."
3) You'd think they were concerned about American leadership in the world: "Such focus [holding CCP accountable] would place the United States out of step with virtually every country in the region."
4) Brookings sees hope: "It is still far from certain that Washington will persist indefinitely in ratcheting up its rivalry with Beijing."
