In nearly every county in America, some consumers will have access to insurance w zero premiums. Many more than think they will. 2/

The "young people can't afford coverage" bromide is largely* untrue. 3/

Per Oliver Wyman, in 60% of counties, a 60 year old making $36k (v typical) can find zero premium plan.

At $48k, 1/4 of counties. 4/

I will explain why this is especially good thing for people & bad for Trump, but first, an analyst did some additional work I will share. 5/

1: For ppl w modest incomes ($25k), most will be able to find plans for $10/month in premium. Almost all for $50. Varies widely by age.6/

2: For 30 YOs, 40% of counties, plans available for <$50. For 60. YOs, 97% of counties. 7/

3: For higher income people, it's not quite as low cost, but great deals abound. Some random, actual examples.👇 8/

Some important points. Zero premium insurance is great because it brings healthy people into the risk pool. 9/

However, zero premium plans have high deductibles. However, many have primary care & generics drugs w no deductible.10/

If someone can pay some premium, they can opt for a lower deductible. But the point is a much higher subsidy this year.

Why? 11/

Two reasons why so many good deals: a) Trump miscalculation and b) structure of the ACA. 12/

By not paying CSRs, Trump has loaded massively on the US Treasury to pay higher subsidies. He thought he was breaking the ACA. He's not. 13/

The ACA is designed to protect most people against big increases in premiums like the kind he aimed to thrust on ppl by not paying CSRs.14/
