The response of white people that they “work(ed) hard” as a way to dismiss every aspect of systemic and structural racism is one of the few things that pushes me over the edge.
Structural & intergenerational white wealth IS NOT the byproduct of hard work. The government literally gave assets to white people or took (i.e. stole) labor and assets to convert into white wealth.
You know that trillion dollar tax cut that just passed? That is GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE TO WHITE PEOPLE.

That’s what it is. But white welfare is always in billions. Welfare to people of color is always scraps.
The median wealth for black people is projected to be $0 by 2053. inequality.org/research/zerow…

The legacy of both being property AND later not being allowed to own property PLUS Jim Crow = $0 wealth.

Jason Kessler being given an interview on NPR as if white supremacy is a legitimate policy position is a reminder that many of the (white) people making decisions in the media don’t feel impacted by any of this — it’s either entertainment or “news” until it hits their doorstep.
You know who NPR isn’t interviewing? The folks saying that the media should be shot dead and that the media is the enemy of the people. But why not? Is that not a legitimate policy position, too? OF COURSE IT ISN’T. But they are impacted that one.

The Baton Rouge Police Chief was fine-ish during this press conference until he just said, "To the residents of Baton Rouge, please treat our officers with the respect that they deserve and they will reciprocate that respect. Stop resisting arrest. Stop running."
The Baton Rouge Police Chief essentially just said if you think an officer was unprofessional or abused you, you need to endure the abuse and then "get with your family and file a complaint." This is a joke and it's insulting.
THE BATON ROUGE POLICE CHIEF LITERALLY JUST SAID THAT WHEN YOU FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE POLICE IT WILL BE FOLLOWED-UP BY THE POLICE LETTING YOU KNOW THATY THEY HAD TO RIGHT TO DO WHATEVER YOU COMPLAINED ABOUT.

White people get so mad when you don't put "some" or "most" before you talk about them because each one wants to think they're one of the good ones so they can avoid confronting their racism. Let it be known that I will never qualify my statements about whiteness or white folk.
When I say this racism shit is systemic I don't mean "some" or "most", I mean everyone that lives under white supremacy is affected. All white people need to confront their role in the system. I won't let them wiggle out of it just to protect their feelings
White people who understand this don't get mad when I talk about white people. Those are the ones who work against colonialism. If you're a white and it bothers you that I say "white people" instead of letting you think you're not part of the problem, good. You needed to hear it.

(THREAD) When my son was in Gr 10 he brough home, To Kill a Mockingbird. I was angry -my child, was reading a text of a past romanticized by some, even tho it was riddled with #racism. I wondered how many texts he would read that looked like him. But he had to read that- why?
I had asked many times for a reading list of books theyd have in their English class. I asked if the texts looked like them, reflected their experiences bc #IdentityMatters. I never could get an answer. Replies included, it was a #Classic but y'all know #Classics aint #Neutral
Of course, the response when we have these convos - "Y'all want to Censor...". Funny how "#freeSpeech" and "#censorship" always come up when issues of #equity are being discussed. That our children shouldn't be exposed to #racism and #trauma they live EVERY. SINGLE. DAY

I lost over 100 followers this week standing up for WOC being attacked by white women.
I'm sorry to have lost them because it means those folks missed the point.
White people have an obligation to POC in America because of the damage #racism inflicts even if we aren't #racist.

I don't mean casual snark, but hurt.

My mentions are full of angry people tonight.
White women who still can't accept that the majority (52%) of white women-- including Democrats and Sanders supporters--voted for Trump.

I agree it's ugly.
And fundamentally about #racism and internalized #misogyny.
Fix it for 2020.
Many of us in the #Resistance, as activists, as journalists, are here of necessity--we are trying to save our families, our friends, our communities, our country.

Part of that fight has to be acknowledging and refuting the structural #racism and #misogyny that elected Trump.
Only 31% of white men voted for Hillary.
Disgraceful--yet expected.
White men haven't voted Dem since 1968 (except 1992).
But white women?
Voting AGAINST their own interests & those of every other woman in America when WOC voted 94% Hillary?

We cannot let that happen again.

It's already #4thofJuly2018 here in #NewZealand and the #antifa uprising has started. A bunch of them came to my house to take my guns. When I didn't have any they got mad. They took away my wife and made me gay marry an immigrant gang instead. Don't ignore the warnings.
In the street #antifa mobs are pouring biodiesel on piles of flags and using them to like giant scented-oil burners but with drums full of estrogen. I never knew people had so many flags. I guess they were keeping them in hiding. #4thofJuly2018
Instead of the flag we now pledge allegiance the Mann hockey stick climate change graph. We all have to kneel in front of it and sing the anthem five times a day. The anthem now is "Girls & Boys" by Blur but with the words rewritten so it's communism. #antifa #4thofJuly2018
