When I was a kid we got blocks of government cheese from the church. It was nasty except in noodles or grilled cheese. You can't live on it.

We were on food stamps when I was a kid. It was already difficult just to get enough to eat. We had to compost and grow produce. There was simply not enough to buy healthy food.
