Trump's Robin Hood in reverse budget would be devastating for nearly every community across the U.S.

1. WOMEN

Women make up two-thirds of adults on Medicaid—which Trump calls for ending as we know it, leaving millions of women without health coverage. And he'd defund Planned Parenthood, cutting off access to family planning & well-woman care.

Trump’s deep Medicaid cuts jeopardize health care & vital services for 15M people w/disabilities. His budget also slashes #SocialSecurity disability benefits, housing for PWD--and even closes the Limb Loss Resource Center.

Rural Americans are disproportionately likely to need to turn to food, housing & energy assistance--all of which Trump slashes deeply. He'd also cut legal aid--when 86% of low-income rural folks already get inadequate legal help.

Trump slashes Pell Grants, which help two-thirds of Black students & nearly half of Latino students afford college. He’d even slash the only federal program devoted to helping people of color start their own businesses.

Trump’s Medicaid cuts would jeopardize coverage for 35M children, as Medicaid is the primary source of health coverage for kids. He slashes SNAP, which protects 5M kids from poverty annually—and SSI which helps 1.1M kids w/disabilities.

House Republicans were set to hold a hearing today to trash the minimum wage.

Now Politico is reporting the hearing was postponed because homophobic blog posts by one of the GOP witnesses came to light -- calling to "tax and regulate homosexual acts."

Over the weekend @desmoinesdem published my article about reaching #rural voters and it spurred some outstanding discussions. One thing I hear a lot from people who did not grow up in #Iowa is their discomfort with Iowans’ emphasis on how long their families have lived in Iowa.
They often see this as Iowans setting narrow parameters on who is a “real Iowan” and who is not. This is not the case at all and glosses over a fundamental misunderstanding of why my family’s Iowa longevity matters.
In the last 100 years rural America lost over 50% of its population. During the Great Depression, 1/3 of all farmers lost their farms. Most families never returned.
