While there are many initiatives to allow former prisoners to vote, so far there has been little advocacy in making sure prisoners vote.

Why should we allow prisoners and felons to vote?

Here are some pictures of some former prisoners and felons.
The first reason is obvious. People in power get to decide what is a felony, this power allows them to target political dissidents and whistleblowers to make them ineligible to vote.

Laws deliberately target people of certain races, and they are over represented in prison. If they don't have the right to be heard, how can we ever expect change?

Rainy day thread: There has been a lot of discussion here about Section 371 and using the crime of conspiring to defraud the United States to charge Trump or others. In the Second Circuit, this charge has long been called a "Klein Conspiracy." 1/10
In 2014, in US v. Coplan, the Second Circuit stated that using Section 371 to prosecute defrauding the United States created "a common law crime, [one] created by the courts rather than Congress[.]" 2/10
The Second Circuit explained "[t]hat fact alone warrants considerable judicial skepticism" about whether such charges are valid. Why the concern? It's because federal crimes should be defined by Congress, not by the federal courts or the common law. 3/10

For most of the day, US media has covered Sessions' attempt—likely at Trump's direction or encouragement—to fire Deputy FBI Director McCabe *without* noting that McCabe is a *major* witness in the Obstruction case against Trump (an impeachable offense).

*That's* the story here.
2/ The idea DOJ and/or Trump would try to punish one of the nation's foremost whistleblowers at a time he's a key witness against the President of the United States in a federal felony the president could be impeached for—I don't know why *that* wasn't the headline from the jump.
3/ @AshaRangappa_ (CNN) notes Sessions' recusal from matters relating to the election (not just Russia) should've precluded him from seeking to punish a man (McCabe) who was involved in the Clinton email investigation. Sessions said he'd stay away from Clinton-related matters.
