/Mini-thread. From a practical standpoint enormity of managing legal/PR of Trump's many scandals means he can no longer faithfully execute the job of President. Chief executives of any other institution in the West would have been forced out by now. medium.com/@Simon_Rosenbe…
/Look at his big foreign policy plays - all were rushed out, not terribly thought through. Was urgency to each one. He and his spokespeople then used this busy calendar to dismiss import of Mueller. And lookie - all for policy plays falling apart. thehill.com/policy/nationa…
/And when these rushed, ill-considered foreign policy plays fell apart, and adopted public rationale for dismissing Mueller collapsed, the President panicked, and dangerously escalated his attacks on legitimacy of process, rule of law.
/Chief executives mired in scandal are removed because there is a practical understanding that their fight for self-preservation will become their primary job, and the entity they lead will be ill-served. As a nation, we are clearly at that point. Status quo is unsustainable.
/Trump has made clear that he believes Mueller and his other scandals are making it impossible for him to do the job. He is right. But rather than leaving office, he appears to be taking the only other path available to him - discredit, then disable, DOJ/FBI/Mueller.
/W/evaporation of "big man striding the world pushes annoying scandal off to do his job" narrative, we are left, I'm afraid, w/only two possibilities- Trump leaves office, or he tries to burn it all down. Wish I saw some other path, but don't think so, any more. Dark days ahead
