1. Getting good jobs require having strong skills. Strong skills come only after a long grind. Prepare yourself for a long bumpy road and don't expect instant results.
2. A long grind is not 2h/week. Treat learning 3d as a full time school/job. If you can put 8 hours of work every day you will get to a good point with your skills pretty fast.

The concept is inspired by the game "🔎 Where’s Waldo".

We wanted to push it a bit further by creating a fully animated 3D map 🗺️, with a profusion of 2Dcharacters 🧍‍♀️🧍🧍‍♂️.

This mix of 3D and 2D gives a unique look to the game and saves a lot of production time

Hi all, as you may know I have been quite sick with brain fog and exhaustion and as a result haven't been working at my usual tech art job.

So, I have decided to run some short live #gamedev #3dart masterclasses!
I think the best way to do this have a few small test classes of around five students on Discord for, say, three sessions.

Starting subject is "Optimising 3D game models" and will be for people who know how to model at a comfortable speed in any app- but want to...
...learn practical techniques for optimised models.

Any 3D app. No discord cam needed if you have issues.

I will review and teach techniques using your last sessions models and give KIND constructive feedback, that builds your confidence and toolbox.

I have been involved with #3dart #3dartist tools since Max 1.0, and have worked for many major companies and the trend I have watched is artists suffering as their tools become bought up and ruined by profiteering.
As a result of monopolies and corporations buying up suites of tool then doing the minimum to upkeep whilst the core creatives leave or are sidelined, artists have to work with inferior tools that should develop at a much faster rate and at a fraction of the cost.
I cannot stress enough how great tools that have been making our lives easier (often bearable) have become less usable, often painfully broken and frustrating.

We lost Softimage XSI, we lost 3dsmax to the double death of marketing deiving development (starting with the ribbon)

The whole thing was meant as a rework for myself to see my progress. I did my original work at the beginning of my studies(2015). The new diver was created shortly after my studies(2018-19)

It is rigged, but not the hydraulic stamps. You have to do that manually with constrains in your favorite 3D tool.

1) Okay, lemme just fucking bury this #3dart #gameArt myth right here and right the fuck now.

Quads are just two triangles with a hidden edge. In a game engine they are... wait for it... two triangles.

Lets talk modelling in quads...

For the very sake of fuck
2) that hidden edge is still the fuck there in your 3d app.

Make a quad, move two opposite verts up. Voila, it folds, one way or another. That hidden edge is there... and it is determined by THE SHORTEST DISTANCE between the verts.
3) whatever the fuck orientation that edge is when you export it to your engine is where the triangles lay.

You either control that fucking bastard edge or let the exporter pick backed on distance.
