A handful of billionaires own most of the corporations, corporate media and social media and practically every major institution that affects our collective and individual quality of life.

A handful of billionaires have unprecedented control over banking, financial institutions, what’s invested in and what isn’t, the food we eat and the water we drink.

The same Nazis responsible for the chaos at the silent vigil we’re also seen punching multiple female officers on a covid conspiracist protest a month later, as well as throwing glass bottles at their heads from point blank range.
When will the msm stop gaslighting the population, tell the truth about what happened that night and stop platforming those attention seeking opportunists responsible for the chaos?
It’s only in the Tories interest to have police reform as their responsibility. Hence why these protests were backed by many Conservative MPs like Jacob Rees Mogg.

I’m all for police reform, but not done by the Tories. First we need a complete overhaul of our democracy.

LTNs - Low Traffic Neighbourhoods - Good or Bad? 🧵(1/9)

(We're trying to be objective here & full disclosure - we have no direct experience of LTNs, just lots of tweets read.)

It seems to be far more complicated than just good or bad - there are layers on both sides...
2/9
We hear from people living *inside* LTNs that benefits include
* Lower #AirPollution
* Safer streets for active travel
* Quieter
* Less traffic within LTN, including rat-running
3/9
Yet we also hear the cons of living inside include
* Poorer access for disabled people
* Poor access for emergency vehicles
* Poor access for deliveries
* Difficulty having visitors

1985-1990 the world entered a historic period of twin overshoot: extracting fossil carbon faster than the discovery rate and pumping fossil carbon into the atmosphere in quantities that put our climate system at risk. What did we do about it? /2
The IPCC was established in 1988, around the 350 ppm breach. The IPCC assumed that oil and coal and and gas were plentiful and concentrated on getting countries to limit their use voluntarily. The opposite happened. Half of all emissions were emitted since then. /3

Time we stopped being blinkered by privileged politicians or the current political system either - all political parties are untrustworthy, really poor value for money and mostly nothing but bloodsucking chancers and liars whom we don’t need to run any country #citizensassembly
Why can’t we do away with political parties altogether and vote in citizens assemblies that appoint experts in their respective fields on renewable short term contracts as their civil servants to advise and carry out their will.
That way we the people get to control and exercise real and full democracy, by the people, that is equally shared - positions on assemblies rotated by a system of random selection from electoral registers. Then there can be no whip or elites influencing its decisions!

A short positive thread on #CitizensAssemblies 👇
I’ve put a lot of effort into arguing the case for a #CitizensAssembly in Scotland & I’m totally committed to having a gold standard process
I stand by my comments that the #CitizensAssembly is a good way forward for Scotland in the #Brexit crisis. I see the ultimate destination as #independence. Others disagree. That’s the joy of democracy

We need a #GreenNewDeal and #JG. Most people aren't socialpathic. In their jobs, they don't want to work on making the planet unlivable for their children, they don't want to engage in fraud or corruption, they don't want to stand by while their coworkers are harassed and abused.
Most people don't want to build systems of mass surveillance, psychological manipulation, and autonomous weapons. Most people don't want to work on how to exploit others more and more. But fear, fear of unemployment and loss of livelihood gets people to work rapidly on all these.
This fear is real. Whistleblowers are completely destroyed in this system. This is a system of socialpaths, by socialpaths, for socialpaths. With impending climate catastrophe and massive concentration of autonomous means of violence, we need a new system immediately.
