// THREAD //

i put out a Baths record called Romaplasm last year that i’m still real proud of!!

i had to kill like 30 mins and i thought it’d be fun to mention some of the easter eggs (?) in it that people may have missed 😬✨
the ambient sound in the intro/outro of “Extrasolar” is a sample of a shuttle taking off. or a rocket. can’t remember. but you get it. Space
there r obvious samples of horses running in the intro/outro of “Abscond,” also mixed into the beat itself, BUT the thing i wanted to mention is that the way i edited the horse footsteps would be IMPOSSIBLE for an actual horse lol

the steps r SUPER far apart. long leaping horse
also in “Abscond”
@ 3:04 u can hear “do you have everything?” underneath the nighttime sounds and horse movement~
the texture in the intro of “Human Bog” is the sound of skin rubbing together, the song having a lot to do with ~human touch~ ...
and then mixed into the beat are the sounds of clarinet keys (provided by @Daedelus ) as well as the sounds of teeth chattering
in the “Adam Copies” bridge at 1:40, there are some nearly inaudible spoken lyrics underneath the textures there, most notably at the very end, where u can hear “but i’m not done yet” which harks to the same refrain repeated later on in “Wilt”
i got the water and texture samples in “I Form” from my bandmate @grinbucket ✔️
and then the sample at the end of a kid yelling “Adam” was something i recorded in palm springs in like 2009. not really easter egg stuff but fun to note 😬
the song “Wilt” is about being bound (or tied) to your nature— there are sounds throughout of leather being stretched and tied. you can first hear it at 0:28
there are church bells in most of the breaks of “Coitus” that i used to help push the sentiment of sex as a religious experience
i’ve said in some intvws before but “Human Bog,” “Wilt,” and “Coitus”
i view as a kind of ~sex trilogy~ (lol).
the separate songs kinda seen as
Hell, Purgatroy, and Heaven (respectively)
the narrative of “Broadback” is addressed to a warrior/lover, and the sound that starts it off (and again in the bridge) is the sound of an arrow being fired. the finger wrap on the cover of Romaplasm is a loose allusion to that
hope this is a cool / fun thing for y’all! i had a blast making this album and filling it with all the indulgent fantasy i could 💐
