I loved magazines. Hell, I started one (Entertainment Weekly). I bought them by the pound. Hudson newsstands had to double-bag my purchases. But in truth: I haven't bought a magazine in ages. When I do buy one, I end up disappointed. Why? 2/
Content used to be scarce. Now there is no greater abundance. There is an overabundance of content and good content. This is why I think it is a mistake to continue to think of journalism as a process of manufacturing a product called content. 3/

Fun fact: I had lunch with Dr. Siegel & two autistic friends a few years ago. She talked about some of her theories for her new book. They both told her she was wrong. She ignored them.
@KQEDForum So even though Dr. Siegel has had “more than 40 years of clinical experience” with autism, if she ignores autistic insights, her opinion on autism is flawed.
@KQEDForum “Diagnosing for dollars” is absurd. We know from research that, if anything, #autism is under diagnosed, especially in girls, people of color, kids from low SES scenarios. Yes, there is always a small % of diagnostic error, but that is a dangerous misdirection.

The computer experts who brought us so-called "Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails" (VVPATs) didn't bother to study whether actual HUMANS could or would use them successfully. Turns out most can't & don't. At least the computer experts learned their lesson, right? Wrong. 1/
Some of the same IT experts who brought us not-so-verifiable "Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails" are about 2 approve computer marked "summary cards" w/o studying whether actual HUMANS can or will successfully use them to "verify" that the touchscreen didn't flip their votes! 2/
How do I know this? I know this because I joined a group (VVSG) whose decision-makers will make recommendations to another group (TGDC) as to the requirements for obtaining federal certification of election systems by the Election Assistance Commission. 3/

2. ive experimented meticulously with various doses of MDMA, LSD, psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and ayahuasca in different contexts: conference calls, weddings, birthday parties, and tech conferences. Ive found them to be extraordinarily informative.
3. im not a big fan of ‘micro-dosing”, which is usually about 1/10th of a conventional dose. I do something i like to call “social dosing”, which is about 1/3rd. its enough to learn from the experience, but not overwhelming
