It seems increasingly clear that the Democratic Party’s conventional leaders are vastly underestimating the skepticism and impatience of liberals and younger ppl with their approach, which centers on fighting Trump with maximum self-constraint, w/ an eye toward indie conversion.
People are looking at the last 17 months with genuine fear, not mild political complaint, and they see calls for nonviolent civil disobedience, as @MaxineWaters supported, as action they can take, rather than just helplessly waiting for November, bracing for more bad things.
If you talk to Dem voters, that is what you’ll hear. People are scared. They feel the country sliding into fascism (I spoke to a Holocaust survivor in El Paso who said as much) and they have no political power. Hearing their own leaders demand they be more civil is landing ugly.
