Just before going on air with @Lawrence, @HHSGov got back to me to say they still *are* receiving newly-separated migrant kids.

This, after a completely bizarre press call earlier today when they ignored @LisaDNews asking this exact question three times.
The strangest part about this new info is those newly-separated migrant kids aren't being separated by zero tolerance, or so @HHSGov says.

So not sure why they wouldn't answer the question earlier today when asked three different times.

Let's just say it was extremely weird.
New separated kids @HHSGov receives are separated, they say, “when there is credible jeopardy, or criminality.”

Bottom line: we still don't the total number of kids separated by zero tolerance, don't know when those still in custody will be reunited, nor where they are.

8 year old boy who died Christmas Eve in Border Patrol custody held with dad in the field for 3 hours.

Then 2 days at a BP processing station.

Then 2 days at another station.

Then moved at 11:17PM to a third station.

That’s when CBP says he got sick.

72 hours is *max* anyone is supposed to be held in Border Patrol stations.

This boy was held twice as long before he died.

The fact migrant kids are dying is horrific — but not surprising.

Deterrence has long resulted in adult deaths in the desert.

I pointed out to @JoyAnnReid in June kids dying would be an inevitable result of Trump targeting families and asylum seekers.

BIG: Trump administration raises official count of migrant kids it separated from parents at border from 2,667 to 2,816.

Government said (in 12/12 report) it *miscategorized 149 kids* and released them to other sponsors like legal guardian, immediate relative or unrelated adult.
Trump administration also released latest number of *still-separated* kids: 161.

➡️ 10 kids are still separated from parents and awaiting reunification.
➡️ 151 kids are still separated but government claims parents aren't "in class," meaning they will not be reunited.
If the Trump administration just discovered and recategorized 149 kids it had previously said weren't separated, how many more will they find?

How many of the kids still in custody are in the wrong category?

Were there others released to the wrong sponsors?

So many questions.

Yesterday, I declared a state of emergency that allowed @EversourceMA to take control over a plan to restore utilities in the affected areas. They quickly mobilized a leadership team, set up a centrally located command center + organized the deployment of hundreds of gas workers.
Local, State and Federal officials have been working around the clock. While we all know that there is a lot of work left to do, we are starting to make some progress.

The work to recover from this incident is being broken down into three phases.
The first phase is all about getting people back into their homes safely and restoring electricity. Technicians and fire personnel are deployed to work designated areas one at a time. They are shutting off gas meters and inspecting buildings to make sure it is safe to re-enter.

At a press briefing earlier today- which was live translated in the UK ( so quite patchy). Lavrov mentioned BZ- and it was claimed this had been found by a Swiss Defence Lab, an accredited OPCW lab.
