This thread is the contuination of my previous thread. In this thread i would like to first present the facts about this 8 way green highway between salem & chennai.

1. This Salem-Chennai expressway will be for a distance of 277.30 Kms. The length of the highway in each district will be as follows
Salem : 36.3 Kms
Dharmapuri : 52 Kms
Krishnagiri : 2 Kms
Thiruvannamalai Dt : 123.1 kms
Kancheepuram Dt : 59 kms.

2. In this entire stretch not a single mountain will be touched. The distance between salem & chennai will be reduced by 64 kms , fuel savings will be around 6 crore liters per year. Approximately RS 400 crores worth fuel will be saved each year. Reduction in green house gases.
3. Not only the distance between salem & chennai reduces but the freight charges too reduces.
The land would be acquired Only after paying the full dues to all stake holders. Unlike during UPA period where people had to run from pillar to post to get payment

4. The highlight is
Those whose lands have been acquired would be paid FOUR TIMES the guideline value of the land acquired.
During UPA period only the guidelines value was paid. Modi sarkaar is paying 4 times more compensation than UPA. Anyone talking about it ?

5. Any building , house, shop or any structure acquired would be paid at a flat rate of RS 2000 per square feet.
During UPA my friend who lost his house for NH 68 was paid RS 800 per square ft.
DMK which was part of UPA was paying just 1/3rd of what is being paid now

6. Those who have lost their lands would be given RS 1.5 lakhs or would be provided a house under PM Awas yojna.

7. Lands, houses, Wells & trees in an acquired property would be individually compensated. , for example a fully grown coconut tree would be paid rs 50000 , if there are 10 coconut trees in an acquired land he would be paid rs 5 lakhs for coconut trees.
8. A mid sized well would be paid rs 15 lakhs .
To compensate the trees being cut during the construction of the highway, trees would be planted at intervals of 10 meters each on either sides of the road for the entire stretch. Totally 3 lakh trees would be planted.

9. Any building to be acquired will be paid it's full value without calculating the depreciation.
It costs Rs 140 crores per km of bridge for this express highway.

10. lands will be acquired from 7800 people,but over 50Lakh people will stand to gain because of this project.This road passes through the least developed areas of Tamil Nadu.This is not an alternate road from Salem to Chennai but a life line to the people of 4 backward Districts
