Also: Trump said he could interview 2-3 others. They likely would include Joan Larsen (6th Cir) (if there actually are two women being considered), as well as Thomas Hardiman (3rd Cir) or William Pryor (11th Cir) (both in the running last time) or Sen. Mike Lee.
This makes sense to me and is more or less what I was thinking — but I’d add that bringing people in to keep the base happy is a tried and true part of all of this —>
