To help unpack a current debate, here's a quick guide to the difference between a 'hard' Brexit and a 'no-deal' Brexit.

And when I say 'highly uncertain' I'm being an academic and mean what others might term 'no-one really knows and will be very much making it up as we go'

1/
Key messages to take from this:

Hard Brexit means a significant distancing between UK and EU, but with a framework for continuing working relations

No-deal means a crash-stop to all areas of cooperation, plus super poor political relations

2/
As such, no-deal means not only is there a much bigger hole, but you fall into it straight away and without a ladder to get out the other side

3/
So while much focus - rightly - has been on immediate impacts of no-deal, also also essential to think about the longer-run.

And that extends to UK plans for going global: collapse of Art.50 process won't be best calling card when looking for new FTAs

4/
Thanks to @SamuelMarcLowe @anandMenon1 @AndrewDuffEU for input on this. Comments/changes welcomed.
