I'm trying to figure this out. The Twitter Advanced Search isn't perfect. You slightly change the date range and you can get different results for the same date periods. But this confused me. I searched for old tweets from Glenn Greenwald. I only found 8 between 2008 and 2015.
/ Now, I jiggered the ranges a bit and I found one tweet in 2013. So there's some wiggliness there. But it seems like there's close to no tweets prior to 2016. From Jan 2016 forward there are a gazillion. I also tried googling tweets before 2016. Basically Google ...
/ the tweet handle and the year and see what tweets from those years come up. This is obviously a very imprecise way to look. But I thought I'd try. And I couldn't find 2009-15 tweets that were still live. Twitter advanced search is at this url twitter.com/search-advanced
/ It's occurred to me that maybe someone hacked his twitter account. Or maybe twitter disabled the search at his or someone else's request. But it's confusing.
/ Now when I was doing this I tried searching some other people with large following. Searched myself and various other people with large followings. All about what you'd expect. But then I tried Ezra Klein & well, a lot of his tweets were missing too, at least from the search.
/ Did someone hack these people? Is there something weird going on with Twitter? Until I tried Ezra's account I figured, well, Glenn must have deleted a bunch of his tweets. Or maybe someone hacked him. But what happened to Ezra's tweets? Unless he suddenly reconsidered ...
/ his views on some obscure point of health insurance policy why would he delete his tweets? That makes no sense. What's going on here? Can someone who knows more about Twitter forensics tell me what's up here? Am I just using search wrong?
