I do not understand how those who are a persecuted minority (at one time, basically everyone in the US except some 'white' hetero males) can empty themselves of empathy for others like Stephen Miller (20th century Jewish immigrants) and Trump have. Or how they endorse neoNazis. 
This is a reminder that (almost?) every group of immigrants has faced resistance from those who were here "first": Irish, Jewish, Chinese, Mexican, German ... and "first" is in quotes because Europeans weren't first. They displaced Native Americans.
