Does anyone read indiehackers? I've been reading the site for ages, and have just made my first community post! indiehackers.com/forum/12-start…
It's going to be quite a challenge trying to balance staying active on this type of work-relevant social media platform but also keeping productivity high.
I'm thinking of keeping to some sort of strict schedule throughout the day. e.g. 5 hours of code, 1 hour of tech social media, 30 mins writing email newsletter. Does anyone else have a daily routine like that?
I'm the sort of person where if I don't have a routine, I end up going on a coding binge for 15 hours straight and burnout. Usually I get sick if I do this too much 😅 #codingfever

1/ I’ve had a few days to reflect on the last 4 months of my startup challenge and I think it’s time for a pivot / recalibration

2/ The challenge began with me wanting to practice execution again, after almost 3 years in a senior corporate role where I didn’t touch any code. I missed building things, had the luxury of free time, so it seemed like a good goal to just “practice shipping”.
3/ Now, after 4 consistent launches in 4 months I feel I’ve proved to myself I’ve still got the knack. I can still build and ship a decent MVP within a given time constraint. But I’m not happy.

Not many people go from launch to sustaining lifestyle in just a couple of months. Maybe that happens to some in survivorship-bias-land. But back in the real world it takes a lot longer. My last SaaS took 6+ months to get to just a few thousand $ MRR.
And that was when I was focused on ONE SaaS product and spent a good amount of time on content marketing every day.
I’ve said many times that revenue isn’t my short term goal. I’ve launched a free open source app, an app that charges $1, an app that has pricing but isn’t charging anything yet, and a job board in a competitive niche. These aren’t the actions of someone focused on revenue 😅

Without a doubt, yes. But then who is to say which strategy is right? Build another MVP or focus on an existing one? I feel like I will “know” when it’s the right time to really focus.
In the end whether you’re successful from iterating one product consistently or successful from trying many things and seeing what works - it’s all down to the chaos monkeys anyway 😅
I think the 12 startup method suits me best because I haven’t quite decided what industry / area I want to focus on. So it’s all experimentation. Even if I wanted to focus on one thing I don’t know what that one thing would be. Yet!

Honestly, I really think you can do so much at the start of developing an idea, without making anything! Or, if you know how to use "No Code tools", you can whip up something in < 1 day.
If you can not code, you do not need a developer or technical co-founder in the first stages of developing your idea. You can gather all the proof around the idea and it's proposition yourself.

1/ Some dude called Microchip is claiming he wrote the original few #qanon posts on 4chan.

No he didn't.
2/ Firstly, anyone will two brain cells to rub together can see that the person who wrote the first #qanon post is not Microchip. He seems to be able to write English without leaving out words - not to mention using capital letters correctly.
3/ Heh - 'anyone will two brain cells to rub together...'.

I mean 'anyone WITH two brain cells to rub together.'

So much for my criticism of Microchip's writing style...

1. This is the story of how the entire human race was brainwashed into believing that a few cans of old nuclear fuel rods were such a threat to public safety that they had to be moved across the country & buried deep underground — at great human, financial, & environmental cost.
2. Everybody wants to do something about nuclear waste. Nuclear plant operators & House Republicans want to bury it in Nevada. A bipartisan group of senators wants states to compete for it. And Bill Gates & other entrepreneurs want to reuse it as fuel in next generation reactors.
3. Almost everybody is wrong to do so. Nuclear waste has never been a real problem. In fact, it’s the best solution to the environmental impacts from energy production.
