Both of these efforts are intended to attack the legitimacy of Mueller and the investigation. Goodlate attacking the judgment behind Mueller’s appt. And Nunes attacking the FBI’s very decision to investigate. 4/
Needless to say both efforts are farcical. Rosenstein is a Republican and was appointed by Trump to be DAG. He’s no progressive. And the FBI opened the investigation after getting a ton of evidence. How c/d there not be an investig given all we now know? 5/
But the question is why push this now? Mueller is out of the news, why bring it up Russia in the last month before an election? This doesn’t help them. 6/
The answer, I think, is that the walls are closing in fast on Trump. This latest gambit is coming after both Manafort and Cohen flipped just a few weeks ago. 7/
