1/ East 72's quarterly letter has been published; I'll link at the end of this thread. The big news? East 72 has initiated a $TSLA short position. And, as the fund manager readily admits, that's quite a surprise given the high volatility: 
2/ So, says East 72, there need to be compelling reasons to dive in with a short position. And, the letter outlines in great detail some of those reasons, including the wall of debt coming due & $TSLA's dreadful Model 3 production quality. But, there is more:
3/ Yes, exactly, the very key question of demand. At the mythical price of $35k, would there be adequate demand for the $TSLA Model 3? Very likely, but Tesla can't afford to build the car at that price. Terrific discussion here of addressable market issues.
4/ What about "funding secured". East 72 is savage here. $TSLA's stratospheric share price is explicable only in terms of its status as a public company with a cult following. The very opposite of the situation with Richard Branson & Virgin:
5/ Especially gratifying is East 72's swipe at the Biggest Idiot Portfolio Manager Ever, James Anderson @BaillieGifford. Note the reference to "drones" & "shoe leather photography." Take a bow, $TSLA Shorty Air Force & Shorty Ground Forces.
6/ Are there risks to East 72's short position? Of course. The greatest risk is another capital raise. It wouldn't be a smart move by an investor, but since when are $TSLA investors smart?
7/ And, as always, when considering the investing savvy of $TSLA shareholders, you need to consider the "low quality" of their "reactions" to news which on its face seems positive but to any thoughtful investor is negative.
8/ Nothing East 72 writes will be at all unfamiliar to $TSLAQ followers. Indeed, I strongly suspect East 72 follows $TSLAQ.
