Y'all, I am hiring a software developer for my team at BigCo and it is A THING. I am remembering fondly when all I did was ping my network & have a lot of coffees....

We are moving towards a distributed team. Two of us are in SF right now, and this new person certainly could be as well. However we'd also love to talk to remote folks who are in a US timezone.
Important note: at the bottom of the job description it says you "must be a U.S. citizen" for this role - NOPE. This job is open to anyone eligible to work in the US, including green card holders, H1-B visa holders, etc.

Working on getting the citizen-only bit taken off now :)

I’m feeling a lot better now. It’s funny how grief works. Six years on, you’d think it would be getting easier, but this December was WAY harder than the last few years. I wasn’t prepared.
Anyway I’m back at work today after what feels like a lifetime of break (but was actually just 2 weeks).

Kinda looking forward to it. Hoping I remember my password😬

After two days of dealing with them in my replies, my overwhelming impression is that there are significantly fewer gamergaters than there were a few years ago, but the things they say have not gotten any smarter.
A typical example - unusually colorful metaphors, stronger than average spelling & grammar for this set...but equivalent in content to “ur soooo dumb hurrr hurrrr”

Never any substance. A screenshot of a tweet reply to me from @AmericanMinear that says, “That’s because you’re a moron with the observational skills of a cinder block at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.”
I suppose “never” isn’t quite true. Sometimes, one of them trots out a tired argument that is just as untrue and/or irrelevant now as it was 4 years ago when it was first proffered. Here are some examples:

My company was raided. It should have been a straightforward matter. But the #MetPolice & #LBRUT forgot to seize my computer & came back to do a 2nd raid. The search warrant didn't permit a second entry, however, #LBRUT entered unlawfully

Complaints were then made to my MP #VinceCable. He liaised with the #Metpolice & #LBRUT. And then weeks later, the search warrant was completely changed & was passed off as the search warrant executed on the day of the raids.

Y’all we need to have a conversation about how bonkers the Antebellum US really was. Today’s subject is Daniel Sickles, and man was this guy a piece of work.
Sickles rose to prominence after Fredericksburg, when he managed to avoid purges of the general staff of the Army of the Potomac by Fighting Joe Hooker in the wake of Burnsides’ departure.
Ultimately, Sickles will move without orders during Gettysburg and get his entire corps destroyed, losing a leg but inexplicably earning the Medal of Honor in the process. He spent most of the rest of his life trying to claim credit for Gettysburg.

Before we start, remember this as you read. Just because YOU think the answer to any of these issues is clear-cut, it doesn't mean that issue is not political.

There are people who take the OPPOSITE position with just as much conviction, and they think it's clear-cut too.
Also - as an engineer, a developer or designer - if you choose to ignore the political and societal implications of your #technology, YOU HAVE MADE A POLITICAL CHOICE.

Y'all know what crossed my mind today?

How my fibroids and endometriosis went undiagnosed for years because my symptoms "matched" diabetes.
For years, my biggest complaints were I had to pee a lot, I was always thirsty, AND I craved sweets.

They monitored me for diabetes b/c of my BMI. I'm short, shapely, and ran track/cheered through middle & high school. Because of my muscle mass, I was overweight.
And so for years...

I'd go in. They'd weigh me. Give me a speech about getting to a healthy weight. And then have me pee in a cup to see if I had too much sugar in my urine.

Y’all. I’m sitting in a restaurant w 2 mentors who were just blessing my soul. A Black couple walks past the table & the brotha stops to say he likes my blazer & that he was “reading it throughout their whole dinner.” We look at him like wha..? This is the blazer (by @AnnaTeiko)
He then says he’s from Ghana & speaks Twi & said that each panel of material was a part of a proverb or parable. The sista w him (Black American) kinda looks sheepish b/c they (nicely) interrupted our convo. She says “he’s been talking about this all thru dinner...”
Then one mentor says, well what do they say? And he interprets a few, explains that the designs are like an alphabet. Now. OF COURSE I’m having #Wakandan heart palpitations. Because this is a Pan African moment and well. #Wakanda.
