From 2011 to 2014 there was a big battle in Europe on the future of the union: financial union vs. fiscal union. A political and intellectual battle. Financial union won decisively
Imagine my surprise then and others’ when Macron arrived in 2016 - seemingly from outer space - and announced: let’s create a fiscal union.
He could of course think that the result of the battle was wrong, he could reopen it, he could fight it again. But his approach was an exercise in political futility, as the expected outcome of that most unsual announcement showed

So when I hear that “Merkel should have given Macron something” my reaction is: by all means let us pool together and give Macron a nice sports car, but we can’t give him a policy, a stratey that we know is wrong

Let’s briefly review the US policy in Syria, which Trump now wants to abandon. 1. Even though Assad is the obvious cause of the civil war, the US decided early on that he had to stay, as a barrier to that old bogeyman, the Islamic radical
2. The FSA and other opposition forces, who wanted to overthrow Assad and almost succeeded, composed of the vital forces of a sophisticated Syrian society, were abandoned to their luck. Obama called them a motley group of doctors, students and shopkeepers
3. Instead the US allied itself with a terrorist group, the PKK. It alienated its only ally in the region, Turkey, and moved its forces to a narrow band of territory in the north. It gave the cire of Syria in a platter to Russia and Iran. The Assad question was thus solved

Political correctness is a major malaise afflicting discourse in our times.

Wiki defines it in a rather restrictive way-

"the language, policies, or measures intended to avoid offense or disadvantage to members of particular groups in society"

But I feel this is not accurate
A broader definition of "Political correctness" would be -

"Any surreptitious attempt to modify the style of public discourse so as to render politically inconvenient talking points unacceptable on one's own political side"
The reason I feel the second definition is broader and more capacious is because it covers all forms of political correctness and not just the SJW type.

#VS-Mitarbeiter erzählt im #NSUUA, dass in der Auswertung zwischen "Neonazis" und "NPD" unterschieden wurde. Wer also aus den Freien Kräften kommt und in die NPD eintritt, wird nicht mehr unter "Neonazi" geführt.
So klingt die Zahl der Neonazis gleich ein bisschen besser ☝️
Gleich wurde übrigens mit "Überläufern" von organisierter Kriminalität und Neonazis bzw NPD verfahren, obwohl VS-Mitarbeiter selbst Fall nennt, in dem jemand aus Türsteher/Rockerszene auch im NPD-Ordnungsdienst aktiv war. #nsuuath
Noch mehr Hits: Mitarbeiter war zuständig für NPD-Vorstand, also auch für Thorsten Heise, aber nicht für dessen Musikvertrieb, zb von dem Song "Dönerkiller", in dem schon vor der Selbstenttarnung des Kerntrios die Mordserie des #NSU besungen wurde. #nsuuath
