Trump is sprinkling in some compliments of Joe Manchin while urging people to vote for his Republican opponent Morissey, saying, "I like him. He's a friend of mine. I'm just not going to get his vote."
Trump on Brett Kavanaugh: "Nobody has ever been treated worse...nobody. Nobody."
Trump is mocking Manchin, but without his usual vitriolic attack-tone, for waiting until the Kavanaugh outcome was decided to announce which way he was voting.
From a coal reporter who knows more than me:
Patrick Morissey: "I will never apologize for defending President Trump, nor will I kneel to the altar of Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, or Nancy Pelosi."
Trump mentions Clinton. There is a Lock Her Up chant. Trump says of Morissey, who is AG of West Virginia: "That's up to Patrick, and he won't do that. Because he's just focused on one thing: becoming your next United States senator."
"These are anti-coal people," Trump warns of Democrats. "And frankly that's what you're getting. And if that's what you end up with, it's your fault, not mine. Remember that. Remember that."
West Virginia Republican congressional candidate Carol Miller is now speaking wearing a red MAGA hat, which I'm not sure I've seen before at a rally even from one of these reliably fawning candidates.
Trump warns people against Richard Ojeda, pronouncing his name "O-hay-duh," which is not how Ojeda pronounces it.
Trump says he listened to Obama speak today, and "he had a very small crowd."
Trump says he heard Obama speak about telling the truth, but Obama repeatedly and falsely promised that people could keep their doctor if they liked their doctor.
Trump mocks Obama's comments about freedom of the press: "We have to love those people, love them...except than nobody was worse to the press than Obama. Nobody. He even used...the Justice Dept. to go after reporters."
Trump on Obama: "He's talking about how I should be nice to the fake news. No thank you."
"Lie after lie," Trump, who is averaging five false claims per day, says of Obama.
Trump denounces "caravans who break into our country and break our laws...We don't mind if they come in, but they have to come in legally." It is legal to request asylum. Caravans of asylum seekers are not breaking into the country illegally.
Trump: "A blue wave equals a crime wave."
Ah, that's why Trump keeps talking about how many House races there are - it's his way of absolving himself for a defeat: "I'm not saying they (Democrats) don't squeak it by. Maybe because they got a lot of races, and I can't go everywhere. Can't go everywhere."
The fact is that Trump's presence isn't wanted by the Republican candidates in many/most of the House battlegrounds.
Trump lies of the wall: "San Diego, we're just about finishing it up." They are not building his wall in San Diego.
Trump repeats his regular lie that San Diego was begging him for the wall. Its city council passed a formal resolution of opposition to the wall. Even the Republican mayor is opposed.
Trump: "Border security is also a women's issue." He says he will do well with women because people in the caravan are "horrible people," and women don't want them. "You have to see the crimes they've committed."
Trump repeats his regular claim, which no expert agrees with, that the U.S. steel industry would have quickly vanished if not for his tariffs.
Trump lies that the Obama administration said there would be no manufacturing jobs created. He slightly exaggerates the number of manufacturing jobs added during his tenure, saying it's nearly half a million and soon to be 600,000; it's 416,000.
Trump lies that U.S. Steel is "building seven new plants." It has made significant new investments in two existing plants. Trump sometimes claims it is six plants, sometimes seven, sometimes eight, once "eight or nine."
Trump: "We're respected as a country again. We were not respected for a long time. We were laughed at, just like these stupid immigration laws." He was literally laughed at at the United Nations.
Trump lies that "very few people come back, almost none," after they are released for an immigration hearing. According to the Justice Department, 72% showed up last year; for asylum seekers, it was 89%.
Trump baselessly and conspiratorially suggests Democrats had something to do with the "very well organized" caravan, saying, of how the caravan was formed, "You have to figure that out." He claims Democrats "overplayed their hand" on this caravan and on Kavanaugh.
Trump lies that he passed the Veterans Choice law giving vets the right to see private doctors rather than face long VHA waits. Congress passed that law under Obama in 2014. Trump signed a law that modified the program.
Trump says his military pay raise, the largest in nine years, is "the largest pay raise they have in more than a decade." He sometimes says this correctly, sometimes exaggerates for no good reason.
Trump tells his usual lie about how the embassy in Jerusalem cost less than $500,000. The renovations will cost at least $21 million.
Trump warns that Democrats want to give power "to corrupt, selfish, ruling-class people."
Trump says nobody can even challenge his assertion that his movement is the greatest political movement in American history.
Trump asks voters to send a message to Schumer, Pelosi, and Maxine Waters by voting for Republicans. Waters, a Black woman, is the only non-party-leader Trump ever uses in these sentences.
Trump has concluded. I think the most interesting parts of that were Trump 1) Distancing himself from a potential House loss, suggesting it'd be because he couldn't campaign everywhere, and 2) Saying a House loss would be fine because he'd "figure it out."
