Health wonks: Report tonight that HHS and CMS are bringing back mandatory bundled payment models began under @POTUS44 and cancelled by Tom Price.

If so, very good news.
Now in English: This has nothing to do what who is covered and everything to do with HOW health care is paid for. 2/
Under the Obama Administration, for common procedures like cardiac surgery and knee operations, we started to pay a single payment to the entire care team based on the quality of the outcome. 3/
What was good about this is it became a movement towards making sure there was better communixation, people were sent home after surgery or to the best rehab centers. And if quality was good and money was saved, that’s how the care team and hospital got paid. 4/
Most people saw this is as a step in the right direction. Good for patients and good for health care. Good for Medicare.

We pushed to go faster by having whole communities adopt this approach.5/
For reasons he can tell himself Tom Price did not favor this approach and ended what we started.

Many were concerned that something as common sense and non-partisan as this has become partisan.

Now it appears that @SecAzar and his team are getting things back on track. 7/
I hope this was a helpful explanation for people who asked— even though my tweet numbering sucks. /end
