Though the Turkish court threw out the case on procedural grounds, all the world knows @aylushka_a’s journalism was not a crime. #GazetecilikSuçDeğildir 🔽
“While this is a relief after three years of ordeal, I hope this was not intended to be part of Turkey’s ongoing international PR campaign to rescue its image in the West,” @aylushka_a said of her court victory, alluding to the country’s status as the world’s top press jailer.
This reminds me of German-Turkish journalist Denis Yucel‘s response to reports that Erdogan released him to seek an arms agreement.

He said he didn’t want to be a part of any “dirty deal.”

These two journalists demonstrate integrity and solidarity when it counts most.
