What kind of a nation is America to be? One that lobs tear gas at unarmed refugees fleeing violence just to satiate a GOP fetish for cruelty?

Good people don’t prevent neighbors from fleeing burning buildings, they offer help.

That’s the America I believe in.

US agents fired tear gas at unarmed refugees on Sunday, which is banned by the Geneva Convention for use in warfare.

The worst instincts of law enforcement are being stoked by a President bereft of morality, and a party of ghouls cheering him on. 🤮

Central American refugees aren’t bringing violence to our streets, America brought violence to theirs.

The violence is being waged over drugs & we’re the chief consumer of those drugs.

America has a moral duty to help these refugees.

The Trump admin cut the advertising budget for the ACA by 90%.

FOIA obtained emails show this was knowingly designed to harm enrollment, and they repeatedly lied about that fact.

Dem House oversight puts an end to the sabotage. Remember what they did when they had the power.
On a call w/ reporters, in response to whether HHS had studied the efficacy of advertising, an official said, “We haven’t done a specific study related to the public awareness of the program.”

It was a lie. They had, & knew it would harm enrollment.

The day open enrollment began, the Trump administrator of ACA benefits wrote a tweet designed to scare Americans away from enrolling.

Now that Dems have won House oversight, she’s promoting enrollment. Oversight stops the sabotage.

For the last 24 hours I've been texting & calling with refugees in Libya. 500 are apparently stuck in a Tripoli prison w/o food & water after heavy fighting broke out two days ago. They say their guards ran away, leaving them alone.
These refugees are men, women & children. They tried to cross the Mediterranean earlier this year, but were found by Italian boats, who turned them over to the EU-backed Libyan coastguard, who put them in prison. The conditions were already terrible before the fighting started.
Oh the phone earlier I could hear children crying & what sounded like bombing in the distance. The refugees say everyone's incredibly frightened. "We hear machine guns, tanks, big bombs, last night from the roof it was all fire."

Jimin wouldn’t allow himself to be trapped on his shift for any longer than necessary.

“Go, go,” Taehyung hurried, taking Jimin’s apron to let him slip out from behind the counter more quickly. Jimin decided he could get the grounds out from under his nails at home.
This morning had been absolute hell. Two girls ordered seven drinks, Jimin made them all only for them to say they were supposed to be with almond milk.

‘Oh I’m so sorry,’ was he all he had legally been allowed to say at the time, while his mind had far more colorful ideas.
With Jimin officially clocked out, he slumped on the customer side of the now empty service counter, looking to his friend with tired eyes.

“You wanna grab dinner later?”
“I can’t, remem—?
“Ah, right...”

Jimin’s disappointment vanished as Taehyung suddenly smiled to himself.
